Hotels: We're reserving some blocks, stay tuned...

Nearby Airports:

LGB->Long Beach, CA (11 miles, 18 min., Closest & smallish)

SNA->Long Beach, CA (24 miles, 38 min., Easy in and out)

Maps: If you're from out of town, you may want to consider getting GPS in your rental car.

Things We Reccomend To Do While In Town:

  • Disneyland (1 full day), be sure to stay late for fireworks! It will be off season, so lines should be manageable. Be sure to ride Buzz Lightyear Astroblaster, or if you go to California Adventure, try Toy Story Midway Mania. Fun!  30 min drive.
  • Eat a fish taco (5 minutes), we suggest Wahoo's or Rubio's.
  • Visit the The Getty, a Museum (half day), architecture, gardens, and a nice view of the city.
  • Go for a dayhike in the local mountains (half day or full day), less than an hour drive and you're in the mountains, dress warm.  Andy can reccomend some specific hikes...
  • Shop at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA (half day), 35 min drive from Long Beach.
  • See live, unsigned music acts at Hotel Cafe, a small music venue (late night, Friday or Saturday).
  • Walk around Hollywood, see a movie at The Arclight theater. (afternoon + optionally, evening)
  • Visit Griffith Observatory, a beautiful, recently renovated solar observatory in Griffith Park (half day).
  • Eat at a Brazillian Steakhouse (called "Churrascarias") such as Greenfields in Long Beach. (dinner)
  • Eat at Open Sesame, serving medeterranian food in Long Beach on 2nd street in the Belmont Shore neighborhood (lunch or dinner). Very close!
  • Visit Huntington Beach Pier, and eat at either Ruby's at the end of the pier, or at Fred's Mexican at the corner of Main and Pacific Coast Highway. (lunch + 2 hours)
  • Visit downtown Seal Beach, see their pier, and/or have dinner at Beachwood BBQ for ribs or a pulled pork sandwich and a microbrew. (lunch or dinner, very close to Long Beach)
  • Tour Santa Barbara Wine Country (~3 days), Stay in Buelton, Solvang, Los Olivos, or the cheapest option, Santa Rosa.  Won't be too hot in April.
